Top Five Tips for Stress at the College Level

It has been quite a stressful week for me. Right now, being a month into the semester, I am in the midst of essays, exams, and projects. Not so fun. hahahaha...

With the onslaught of due dates I am working through right now, I decided to write a post about  my top five tips for stress management in college/university/school/life...:)

Enjoy!

I find enjoyment from this photo as I like to workout and this gives me a drop of happy inspiration.

1)    Exercise
Exercising in any form helps release your feel-good hormones that naturally kicks stress to thfe curb. Now, I know sometimes when we think of exercising we equate it with running marathons or lifting 500 billion pounds at the gym. ~don't know how people do this~ A nice 45 minute walk outside breathing the fresh air will work just fine. It is exercising for well-being, not to lose 5 pounds.

2) Drink Water
It is a fact that the human body can go longer without food than it can without water. Thus, water is like our supreme essential necessity for living. When we are stressed, our hormones get all outa-wack. Water, naturally, balances our body's hormones/ph levels. This in turn promotes normal body functioning. Breath...and drink water.

3) Call Someone
In the middle of an anxiety/stress spell, I normally get all balled up and the last things I'd even remotely want to do is talk about my feelings. But, as my Mom always told me, if ya don't talk it out, how else can you shake it off. So, sometimes all we need is a good chat with one of our frien3cds/family members to make us feel human again. I am known in my family to be quite overly dramatic, haha....so this tip really helps me. The world is not coming to an end.

4) Indulge in Me-Time/Pamper Yourself
It was a harsh realization upon moving to college that I am the only one that can bring me happiness. I can call my parents for support, but as I grow up to be on my own the only person that can take care of me is me. So, I found it important to pamper myself. Treating myself with kindness has become so important when I need to relieve stress. Since I can't take a hot bath...#dormlife...I normally go do things like buy myself a sweet treat, put on some fuzzy socks, or watch a Disney movie. hahaha....and ya know it is not bad to act selfish once in a while. Taking time to relax is necessary if you want to find peace in the middle of life's craziness.

5) Journaling
I am a writer. ......blog...duh....but really. I have a mind that runs a million miles a minute at times and if I don't write I feel weighed down by my inner monologues. Journaling helps me with stress because I can get my thoughts to paper, and then once they are brought into real time, I feel like I can better look at them from a realistic standpoint. Writing helps me to put life into perspective. It saves me from my drama queen tendencies:)

So there are my top five tips for stress/anxiety/.....life management. We are all different and i am no specialist, so these things may not work for you, but I hope you were able to take away something from it.

Life can seem like it is falling apart at times, but the great thing about life, is that it goes on. Moments of struggle pass. They don't last forever.

Alright loves, five minutes till my philosophy class. Gotta run!
